‘The Masters’: MyDrim Gallery Exhibits Artworks of 12 Maestros in June 2018

Come 3rd and 4th of June 2018, MyDrim Gallery will celebrate the genius and art of 12 Nigerian artists who represent, according to the curator and owner of MyDrim Gallery, Sinmidele Adesanya, “the source of modern and contemporary Nigerian art.”

Aptly titled ‘The Masters’, this exhibition of masterworks by the most influential figures in Nigerian art—Abayomi Barber, Bisi Fakeye, Bruce Onobrakpeya, David Dale, El Anatsui, Gani Odutokun, Jimoh Akolo, Jimoh Buraimoh, Kolade Oshinowo, Muraina Oyelami, Nike Okundaye and Yusuf Grillo—demonstrates excellence in artistic expression and innovation. From Akolo’s abstracted forms to Onobrakpeya’s deep etchings to Anatsui’s wood panels, the display is meticulously curated to present the viewer with a narrative that has strong underlying educational mission and lifts the viewers to a realm of true appreciation.

‘The Masters’, the second incarnation of MyDrim’s efforts to draw attention to artists who committed to developing Nigerian visual arts against all odds (the first was ‘Living Masters’ exhibition held in 2007), features a careful selection of distinctive pieces from each master artist giving collectors the opportunity to purchase some of the finest artworks available by these highly acclaimed Masters.

‘The Masters’ will hold at the Desiderata, Banana Island, Ikoyi, Lagos. More details at mydrimgallery.com.
